Property Accountant

A property management organization located in Kingston is seeking to fill the position of Property Accountant.

The core responsibility of the role is to ensure the complete and accurate posting of business transactions into the Peachtree application and to ensure the validity of the balances in the General Ledger as well as to ensure that monthly reports are available to the Board on a timely basis.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in a similar capacity
  • Achievement of Levels 1&2 of a recognized accounting program would be a definite advantage
  • Proficiency in the use of a PC based accounting system(Peach Tree, QuickBooks, etc.)
  • Knowledge of accounting packages
  • High level of competency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of administrative skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to use own initiative

SYSTEM SUPPORT OFFICER

Reporting directly to the Information Technology Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for all business applications that support the Credit Union’s operations. This includes installing, configuring new hardware, software and databases and the installation of patches and upgrades to existing software and hardware.
 
The functions of the position include but are not limited to:-
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the corporate intranet and website
  • Develop custom applications to meet business requirements
  • Troubleshoot and remedy network related problems
  • Assist with the procurement of IT related equipment and peripherals
  • Ensure the performance of all computer, hardware and network components
  • Assist with the training of staff and users of the Credit Union’s operating system
  • Assist in identifying IT solutions which are relevant to the needs of the organization
  • Assist with establishing the infrastructure compliant with emerging IT trends
  • Assist with the preparation of system reports and documentation of operational procedures
  • Ensure adherence to Backup Policies and Procedures
  • Visit out of town branches to repair and/or install hardware and software
  • Address all queries, concerns and complaints from users
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge and experience in Information and Communication systems
  • In-depth knowledge of JAVA, PHP, MySQL, SQL Server 2005/2008
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel including use of Macros, Pivot Tables, etc.
  • Own a reliable Motor Vehicle

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our Senior Management team as Chief Accountant; 

The successful candidate should be innovative, performance-driven and have a record of achievement in effective leadership in order to meet the objectives of the company.

Key Responsibilities 
Preparation of the company s core financial reports.
Management and coordination of all financial reporting and inventory management activities for the company s multiple-locations.
Analysis of financial information for effective decision-making.
Ensuring that the company s systems of accounts are compliant in accordance with all government and corporate regulatory systems.
Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization.

Qualifications, Experience and Key Competencies 
Chartered Accountant or Degree in Accounting.

In-depth understanding of financial and accounting concepts and IFRS.
In-depth knowledge of asset management, taxes and compliance procedures.
Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
Knowledge of ACCPAC and other accounting software.

Experience in a multiple-location organization will be a distinct advantage.
