Accountant - Distribution Company

A small but rapidly growing distribution company operating in Jamaica for both international and local suppliers is seeking to fill vacancies for the position of Accountant

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Daily monitoring of the collections from customers.
  • Timely preparation and disbursement of customer statements and key reconciliations and reports.
  • Posting of collections to the accounts receivable sub-ledger and general ledger on a daily basis.
  • Perform other accounting duties as required.
  • Prepare and update costing for new and current products
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
  • BSc Accounting, Level 1 ACCA or Associate Degree in Accounting. 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting.
  • Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organization and time management skills.
  • Flexible with work hours, able to work under pressure and meet pressing deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (eg. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with accounting package such as Peachtree and Quickbooks would be an asset.
