The Special Education Professional plays an integral role in fulfilling the mission of the institution: which involves performing duties with and for students with varying degrees of learning disability as well as providing specialized support and education for parents, teachers and other care givers.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
The Special Educator will:
- Observe and evaluate the specific needs of children in the school system.
- Determine the learning deficiency of students through the administration of formal educational assessment tools.
- Prepare individualized education plans.
- Help children overcome academic challenges through the use of special education teaching techniques.
- Play an integral role in the development of educational programmes, and strategies to improve academic performance of children in Jamaica.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Masters Degree in Special Education
- Diploma/Degree in Primary Education
- Experience working with children and adolescents with special education needs
- Good Knowledge of the Jamaican school system
