COUNSELLORS required - Kingston, St Andrew, Portmore, Mandeville and Montego-Bay

ECUMENICAL GROUP OF CHURCHES CHURCH-SITE COUNSELLING INITIATIVE Requires: Suitably qualified COUNSELLORS of sound moral, ethical and spiritual character to fill the vacancy of five (5) part-time posts (20 hrs/week) beginning April, 2016.

Posts are available in Kingston, St Andrew, Portmore, Mandeville and Montego-Bay.

JOB SUMMARY:
The counsellor is responsible for providing mental health assessment and counselling services to children, youth and adults. He/ She will employ, when relevant, individual, couple, family or group therapy to reduce distress and improve psychological wellbeing. The Counsellor is also responsible for conducting family life education and health promotion workshops to residents in the surrounding communities. Must be able to function in a church context.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Must have at least a Masters degree in clinical or counselling psychology or clinical social work.
2. Must demonstrate a wide range of supervised clinical training and/or work experience.
3. Must have at least five (5) years of work experience in the field.

SPECIALISED KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:
1. Knowledge of several psychological therapies and techniques.
2. Work experience with children, adolescents and adults
3. Competent in grief and trauma counselling
4. Skilled at organizing and conducting workshops

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Expand the counselling service
2. Assess and counsel clients and provide appropriate interventions
3. Write reports (assessment, follow-up, progress, court reports, etc.)
4. Supervise volunteer counselors and counsellors in training
5. Assist with organizing and conducting workshops
6. Case documentation and reporting at quarterly coordination meetings
